The Vision of Ashland Contemporary Theatre In launching our Twentieth Anniversary Season, ACT has refined our mission to fulfill a unique niche in the entertainment offerings of the Rogue Valley.

We’re all about local talent and great writing, and we strive to be a source of inspiration for audience and artists alike.

ACT produces short and full length plays in both readings and full productions of local writers and national talent, utilizing the skills of retired professionals, college theatre students and avocational actors.

The best writing from recent decades couples with the new work of local playwrights, taking the audience on a voyage of discovery that is the very juice of drama. After all, the theatrical arts are the primary way we see how humanity lives beyond the face someone chooses to show us.

As Ashland’s home of “your community at play,” we emphasize creative inclusion and high artistic standards, while cultivating enthusiasm among participants by offering a great place for personal expression and evolution.

Through the expertise of our artistic staff and the mentorship of our lead writing coaches, ACT creates a fun and challenging environment where everyone can hone his or her artistic skills. Our selections are guided by the search for fresh ideas, resulting in an evening of thought-provoking entertainment.
