About
About this archive
A reading archive of Ashland, Oregon theatre, kept for reference.
What this is
Ashland Play Reviews collects theatre criticism and artist profiles written in Ashland, Oregon in the early 2010s. The reviews cover the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the smaller companies that share the town's audiences — Camelot Theatre Company, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Ashland Contemporary Theatre and the Rogue Valley Symphony — alongside a running column of interviews with the actors, directors and designers behind the work.
The site has been rebuilt from the original pages so that the writing survives and the citations pointing to it still resolve. The reviews and profiles are presented as they first ran; obvious web-era clutter has been cleared away, but the opinions are the reviewer's own.
Who wrote it
The notices were signed "Rosey" — a reviewer who, by her own cheerful admission, also sold real estate in town. The real-estate side of the old site is not part of this archive; what is kept here is the theatre writing and the interviews, which is what readers and reference works have come back for.
