A new stage for a Talent(ed) company
TALENT, OR - When actress Gwen Overland made her exits stage left in the converted feed store, she would find herself outside on a rickety covered porch. In the winter, the uneven planks could be icy, and dangerous. In the summer, the old wood attracted bees.
"It was either too warm, or too cold," says Overland, who is directing "Sweeney Todd," the first musical slated for the new Camelot Theatre Company building next door in Talent. The show runs from June 22 to July 24. (The inaugural production at the facility will be a "Spotlight on Nat King Cole," which plays from June 2 to June 12.)
There were a lot of sweet things about the old building; it had character, but I won't miss it for very long. It's like an old boyfriend; it was great, but it's time to move on.
